Watercolour, gouache and a touch of pencil on a 2.5” x 3.5”, 300gsm watercolour card.
Day 15 of the World Watercolour Month challenge.
This tiny painting took so long! Occasionally I used a magnifying glass, particularly on the mother’s face. However, when I thought I was finished and took a photo, this further magnified the brushstrokes, and then I could see where I had to make more changes – and so on it went…. A fastidious but fun time!
It’s surprising how details are so amplified in the photo of such a small painting – the blue under the eyes looks a lot gentler than this in real life!
I really enjoy working this small; and plan to do more.
Thanks for visiting.
