Watercolour, gouache and a touch of pencil on a 2.5” x 3.5”, 300gsm watercolour card.
Day 15 of the World Watercolour Month challenge.
This tiny painting took so long! Occasionally I used a magnifying glass, particularly on the mother’s face. However, when I thought I was finished and took a photo, this further magnified the brushstrokes, and then I could see where I had to make more changes – and so on it went…. A fastidious but fun time!
It’s surprising how details are so amplified in the photo of such a small painting – the blue under the eyes looks a lot gentler than this in real life!
I really enjoy working this small; and plan to do more.
Thanks for visiting.
Beautiful painting I love this 💕

I’m so happy to tune into your beautiful blog in front of friends here in, hold on, Cape Town, SA! These friends have only seen my iPad work; now, they’re being treated to your delightful work, much more than iPad artwork, I know, and I get to witness that through their eyes while on vacation.

Wow, you’re a long way from home! Flattered that you have shown your friends my work – thank you Paul. Well, I reckon many of the skills used in iPad art are on par with those used whilst – love that old fashioned word – working in other art media. Looking forward to seeing more of your skilful work soon!
I’m enjoying this watercolour challenge, though there are moments when I miss that “go back button”. 🙂 When I get time I’ll be back to some iPad art as well. As I like to say, spoilt for choices, and thankful.
Enjoy your holiday, or “vacation” as you American folks call it. 🙂 Hope you have a lovely time with your friends. All the best, Janette
