*Gouache and pencil.
Years go I did a bit of portraiture from sittings or photos. But these days I prefer to paint and draw faces to mainly create a mood, a feeling – not necessarily a likeness to anyone in particular. Aside from: still life, landscapes, flowers, some animals, birds… faces – usually female, continue to be my favourite subject matter.
Further along are photos of just a few works/play I did in the past year or so during my blogging break. I’ve drawn and painted almost daily, much was tossed out, but still learning lots along the way. I mostly work in small formats: A6, A5 and A4.
I’ve kept experimenting further with the use of gouache (and in general mixed media); also, with ways to finish a work with various acrylic mediums and varnish. If a watercolour/gouache work is allowed to dry completely I can carefully apply these finishes with a brush. Often I first add a matt medium, to provide a base for further work in pencils, neopastel, more gouache etc…then more medium and then a varnish. This allows for a work to be framed without glass – yay!
I’ve also continued to make my own digital prints of my art works, both traditional and iPad drawings. Some of which I turn into cards.

I’ve enjoyed sharing my art escapades here for about 10 years or more, and plan to continue posting – albeit on a semi regularly basis – when time allows for it.
Thanks for dropping by. Hope you enjoy your visit here.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
