I drew this with an “Artline” pen, (a type of pen I’ve enjoyed using for years) from a photo I took of rocks by a running stream, at a local swimming spot. I brushed over the lines with water – part of the fun is not knowing how the ink will spread. After scanning it in with the “Scanner Pro” app, I painted in some more black tones with my finger, using paint in the “Procreate” app. A grey tone came in with the scan. Instead of rescanning it, I thought it suited the drawing so I kept it there.
Unfortunately, the ink in these pens does fade over time, however, printing it with my Epson pigment ink printer gives it a fade resistant, and smudge proof home. I can then paint on it further in traditional media – as in the image below.
I printed this artline inkpen drawing onto brown kraft paper; then added some coloured pencil work, and a little white (water soluble) neo colour pastel.
I’ve collected together a few of my recent works (play) 🙂 below. As usual there are faces, and pears – another favourite subject matter… I’ve enjoyed doing landscapes again, and I plan to do some more. Thank you for stopping by! *Please tap on a pic to enlarge them all.
The two flower pics on the bottom left, I did in watercolour. The rest are mostly prints; some with traditional media on them.
On the left is a drawing I did with neo colour watersoluble pastels, on a rough watercolour paper. On the left is a print I did after a little work – freehand – with media, in an art app.
I used watercolours and a little gouache, on an acrylic painting paper.
A rediscovered drawing that I did a long time ago – the dogs are waiting for a walk.
Scanned in the previous sketch and added some art app media.
This is the print of the sketch, after adding some more colour in “Procreate”. On the print, I put a touch of red coloured pencil on the vase.
A quick sketch in pencil.
A pencil sketch.
The previous sketch with colour work added in “Procreate”.
Painted with gouache. If I was to print it, I’d first take it into an art app and paint in the top of the head!
Used Polychromos on paper, then smudged it a bit in the Sketchbook Pro app.
Drawn in charcoal and white conte pastel, on a tan weaved surface, in the “Art Set Pro’ app. Then put some watercolour on the print.
